The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Corporate Office in Plano, TX was honored to donate more than 320 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in Plano.
“Last fall, I had the chance to get a group of colleagues to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an incredible experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They do so much more than just collect food – they are an essential part of this community.”
Cheryl Jackson began Minnie’s Food Pantry as a way to recognize her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent much of her childhood wondering if and where she would receive her next meal. In addition to providing meals to families in need, Minnie’s also holds classes to teach families how to incorporate the food they receive to cook nutritious, long-lasting meals. They also provide resume help along with financial and job classes to help people get back on their feet.
Since the families receive approximately 50 pounds of food to get them through the month, Service Experts was able to provide meals for six families for the month.
“All the team members were so ecstatic that we had this food drive for the organization, and they even took us around their amazing facility,” Wilson said.
